Is next weekend Memorial Weekend? YES.
Does that mean our family just completed our annual trip to Yellowstone? YES.
Was it a complete success? YES.
Sightings of big horn sheep, grizzlies, black bear, coyotes, wolves, elk and bison to name a few.
Did we spend over 40 hours in our car? Pretty much.
Were there moments short of joy and happiness? Oh, probably.
But these pictures are a few (out of over 600taken) of the highlights we enjoyed.
Mark your calendars and join us- same time, same place next year!
Oh yeah, Cooke City still had quite a bit of snow. The Three (not so) Little GRIZZLE Bears...
It is possible that I was taking pictures in manual mode prior to this WOLF cross the road in front of us. Jim may or may not have sworn under his breath when he realized the camera wasn't in Automatic setting for this shot he got. Thank goodness for photo editing tools which could at least lighten the picture enough to prove it was indeed a wolf just yards away from our car...
Lizzy is not ashamed to admit this was her favorite part of the trip.
Watermelon is a must on this trip- the welcoming of summer! (Even if Mom does insist on it being eaten outside in the drizzling rain...)
Jov thought he was pretty funny standing in front of James like this.
The above picture is of Joseph wanting to see this bear swim across the river. Awesome, right?!
(That's the bear in the middle, not a log...)
James and Sis were good buddies along this trail.
But he couln't resist this photo op...
Our first 7-person family photo!
Anna was not so happy about Dad requesting a picture with his two "babies".
Man that sulfer is stinky!
Joseph became strangely scared of the buffalo poop as we hiked to watch 2 wolves cross a meadow.

AWESOME photos! Well worth the discomfort of 40 hours in the car to capture -- to me. Thanks for posting so promptly. What a memorable family tradition - which must be what Memorial Day is all about.
I love everything about this post. Great job!
That looks like a seriously fun trip. I love the pictures. The wildlife shots look like they are straight out of National Geographic.
