the BEST gift

I admit, it was a little cruel to welcome the kids home for Christmas break with a lengthy list of chores to choose from. But they needed to earn "Christmas cash" for buying sibling gifts and I needed a clean home. Well, the day before heading out of town, Abby was napping and James gathered the other children into the playroom for "a surprise" for me. Knowing his ability to get out of chores, I figured he was stalling- but having 4 mess-makers contained to the playroom for nearly 1 hour was good enough for me, so I allowed it.  The kids became giddy and occasionally emerged from the room. One of those times was for Anna to write this note. (hold it up to a mirror and you can read it perfectly.
"donotcomein".

Finally the suspense was over and I was allowed in.
These amazing children cleaned the playroom with no encouragement or pleading.
Just the goodness of their hearts.

They were also each holding a letter (Joseph an "exclamation point") they had hot glued out of popsicle sticks reading "MOM...WOW...MOM...WOW"
note the Christmas wrapping paper they put in the windows so I wouldn't "peek" on my Christmas surprise.

I cried.
the. best. christmas.gift. ever.

oh, and James likes gum. random.

Guess you can never say that being a dedicated mom to little children is a thankless job. What sweet kids. It is well deserved.
