Evidently Jim swatted a fly and was looking for it when he heard my reaction to my dinner. I guess that is what I get when I don't give him the home cooked meal he requested...
(note: after taking 1/2 a dozen pictures, he did get me a new bowl of fresh Cheerios and bananas.)

My disgusting fly story happened when I left our tiny glass pitcher of maple syrup out on the counter for a day. The next morning I poured some syrup on my waffle and was about to take a BIG bite when Tyler looked over and said, "Mom, what's that?" "Nothing." I said, thinking he was referring to a tiny crumb of darker, crunchy waffle. "No, Mom, LOOK, it's a fly!" Sure enough, that fly that had been driving me crazy and finally disappeared, obviously met its death in the syrup jar. And I almost ate it! Blah!
And PS You are definitely not the only mother who has served cold cereal for dinner!
I second that! It's either cereal or oatmeal. The banana's were a good touch... Sometimes we just HAVE to serve cereal for dinner. Just make sure you make the "favorites" the following day :-)
I am so happy to hear that you had cereal for dinner. It makes me not feel so bad.
Okay, that's pretty funny that he started taking pictures! And I really like cereal, so I think it sounds like great fun! And good luck finding a hiding place for the toothpaste. We have YET to figure out somewhere to put it that Kennedy cannot find! Children just seem to SENSE where there are opportunities to play in gooey stuff!
That is pretty gross - at least you didn't eat it!!! I think I will blog my disgusting story that happened to me a few months ago. Thanks for the laugh - ceral is great for dinner - the other day dinner didn't get done on time and wouldn't be done for another hour (chili beans) so we had PB&J for dinner - oops did I really say that :)
After going through survival training in the wilderness, Jim must just look at flies as another source of protein. I'm impressed he was on the hunt out after them. Which is worse: having flies at dinner, or having flies for dinner?
