Firehouse Fieldtrip

Jim got to chaperone James on his field trip to the fire station! What an adventure it turned out to be...
They arrived, only to find NO ONE there. Evidently the fire fighters had just left to respond to a call. So the kids went on a self-guided tour of the outside of the building, in the chilly rain.
(there's Jamers in the middle with his fire red shirt)

After many phone calls, the bus took the kids off to a neighboring fire house

where the officers asked and answered many questions.
When asked what number to dial in an emergency, James corrected a classmate's "991" answer.
Jim then helped kids hop out of the fire truck.

One officer modeled the fire-proof gear
just in time for the firehouse bell to ring, so the kids backed up against the wall,
as the officers dropped their boots, jumped in the fire truck, and responded to a call.
(only to learn later they were responding to a false alarm at James' school!)

What an eventful field trip! I bet Dad enjoyed it as much as any of the kids. So did I! Thanks for sharing and informing.

That story sounds almost made up! How crazy. Glad they got to go and look around though. My kids loved it when we went to the fire station, but it was a bit less eventful for us!
