My cousin's wife has this quote on her blog.
To you women of today, who are old or young, may I suggest to you that you write, that you keep journals, that you express your thoughts on paper. Writing is a great discipline. It is a tremendous education effort. It will assist you in various ways, and you will bless the lives of many--now and in the years to come, as you put on paper some of your experiences and some of your musings." --President Gordon B. Hinckley
I love it. Yeah, that's it- I blog because I want to bless the lives of many. Because it is a great discipline and tremendous education effort. Actually, I'd love to find a way to save my blogging to my computer, too, for future printable journaling. Anyway...
As I have mentioned, I love keeping a journal. I have several from my childhood and teenage years, and fewer of my young adult and motherhood life. I am hit and miss with my ongoing computer word doc where I try to keep up with the cutesie things the kids do. I have found the "computer journal" to be my best bet, since the keyboard is right there as opposed to finding a pen, pulling a book out of a drawer and actually writing out thoughts and feelings. But in all of these attempts, I find my journals to often times lack a whole lot of interest. Especially the early ones where mostly facts were recorded without much feeling behind those activities. I feel President Hinckley's encouragement to journal not only our experiences, but also our "musings" was geared directly towards blogging. I mean really, isn't it great reading one another's "musings"?!
BTW- I was assuming "musing" came from the word amuse, and therefore meant humorous. I just looked it up and found this definition. What a great word for blogging!
musing: thoughts, especially when aimless and unsystematic
Yup, that's me for sure!

Um okay, you're completely justified is claiming blogging as journal-keeping if you ask me. That's about as close as I have gotten to keeping a journal in quite a few years, and I think it's great!
Btw, I have likewise been hoping to have physical copies of my posts, and realized it would probably work to just "Print Screen" for however many posts are on a viewable page. (Does that even make sense?) I have yet to try it, but am planning on it still. Let me know what you figure out!
Thanks for that. It is fun to think of blogging as a way to follow the prophet. I know I sure enjoy hearing the musings of my family members.
