James had a rough afternoon yesterday. Going and going all day, with less and less sleep this week has caught up to him. This morning as I was cleaning up the kids' artwork from yesterday I found this:
I'm not sure why Utah made his bad list, but it was clear who wasn't on his favorite list. Luckily our family walk/bike ride cheered him up and the list was soon forgotten.
What a wonderfully creative outlet for dealing with a bad day: drawing a map of Utah. He has the shape and all. (I hope the star is on SLC and not Orem.) Not bad for an Idaho school boy. And he has mastered the international symbol for "No." Sounds like a bike ride is also a positive outlet. Way to go!
"This is our one and only chance at mortal life—here and now. The longer we live, the greater is our realization that it is brief. Opportunities come, and then they are gone. I believe that among the greatest lessons we are to learn in this short sojourn upon the earth are lessons that help us distinguish between what is important and what is not. I plead with you not to let those most important things pass you by as you plan for that illusive and nonexistent future when you will have time to do all that you want to do. Instead, find joy in the journey—now." Thomas S. Monson "Finding Joy in the Journey," Ensign, Nov. 2008, 85
