How to Bait a Bear

1st: visit Lewis' farm to pet and feed the horses and mules.
2nd: pick up brother Lewis and his "bear bait concoction".

3rd: allow for plenty of time to go exploring...

awww, yook! a yittle pine cone!

discovering animal holes and homes
4th: enlist the muscles of an eager to help little boy
5th: Take plenty of pictures of all participants

(Anna enjoys brother Lewis' company )

6th: make many subsequent visits to check the sites
(GREAT daddy bonding time)

Big brother guides Anna on a trail (as I watch from the truck with sleeping Sissy).
Anna insisted on wearing these bear slippers "to scare away the elk".

Turkey crossing
7th: clean up after yourselves...
Found the barrel!

8th: check the tree camera for possible bear sightings.
Imagine our surprise and complete excitement to get home and download THESE (of about 50) fabulous pictures of not one, but 3 different bear snacking from the barrel!
