Uninvited

Jim left for his last city basketball game; alone. It has been such a treat for the kids to go cheer their dad on as he takes it to the hoop once a week with a team he was invited to play with. But he would not be hearing Anna cheer "go daddy, go" or James yell "Nice shot" and "now look at the score!"nor see Elizabeth cheer lead. No, this time he snuck out as kids were preparing for bed.

Of course Jim would also be free from Anna running onto the court, quickly followed by her mother, who was calling attention to stop the game, along with an opposing player but not loud nor soon enough to have Anna's own father PLOW her down as he started running backwards to defend his basket. That was a brief, but LOUD interruption to the game.
Our previous game interruption, however, was not quite so brief. James was standing down on the court (against the wall, mind you- no where near the players) when he accidentally hit a light switch. Immediately he recognized his error and in an effort to correct himself, he started switching ALL of the 6 or so switches off. A little embarrassing, yes, but even worse was the delay of game as we waited ten minutes for the halogen lights to turn from a mild dim to full power. We were threatened with a technical foul if it happened again. Truly- have you ever tried "supporting" your husband at a similar event? I wonder who gets more exercise. I know I go home exhausted.
Good thing church ball started up Saturday.
Bring it on!

What a wild and crazy life you lead. And you say you're going to have another boy? I expect to be reading these 'crazier than fiction" stories on your blog for many years to come. No wonder you stay so slim.

I think Church ball is way worse than a city league. You expect league games to get physical. I swear get a bunch of Mormon men playing ball and ALL religion goes out the window!

I think that staying home might be more fun for all of you - I know I'd appreciate it more -

Man, oh MAN, do I know what you mean. :) Jason swears he loves it when we are at his games, but I really don't know how much of them I get to actually see...

And as for new baby boy?!!! I am so excited for you guys! Congratulations! I'm sure James is ecstatic to have a brother. :) (And I'M ecstatic to see the floating baby when I view your blog for the next 4-5 months...)

Hilarious. Yeah, we've had a few similar events while watching Andrew play. Good luck making it through church ball! ;)
