But who can ride straight home? Of course the walk/ride included many detours...
looking for frogs...
picking and blowing dandelions...
discovering bugs and caterpillars
finding puddles to splash through
And finally, an hour later, off to our destination: home.
However this particular day, well, was less than peaceful.
We (I) decided to race a storm. Little did I realize it was a thunderstorm looming near- complete with hail. Nor did I anticipate a necessary 5 minute stop along the way. 5 minutes in this kind of race turned out to be crucial. Once we reached a safe spot, recognizing rain drops would be falling any moment, I sent the 2 bikers on their way to our safe, warm, dry, garage as I waddled quickly pushing Anna in a covered stroller. James made it - Sissy and I got caught in the hail and while I was laughing, poor Elizabeth was sobbing as the hail was banging at our faces, with the wind adding to the misery. Not even her helmet helped. Luckily we were only subject to about 90 seconds of it. We then dried off and warmed up with hot chocolate and popcorn.
