It was four weeks ago today that we dropped James off for his first day of first grade. And yes, that first week was kinda fun. Little notes in creatively packed lunches, biking our family parade across the neighborhood and watching him excitedly lock up that bike and run off to find his friends. This new experience was fun for him!
But now sandwiches are getting boring, notes are being forgotten and the LONG school days are causing an irritable, tired boy, who now rarely wakes up in time to enjoy a morning bike ride. Perhaps this is why I've put off blogging such a milestone. I guess I'm in a state of denial that we have actually begun school- a 'phase' of life that will consume nearly 8 hours of every day for the next 12 years (many more with little siblings, too). I'm just not loving it. And due to school breaks and family vacations, James has only gone to one full week of it so far! Arrr... what are we in for?!

Elizabeth is delighted about her pre-school where she gets to play with five of her good friends at one of their homes once a week.

And Elizabeth found it necessary to teach Anna how to pose for a "first day of school photo". Anna LOVES weekly play group with 4 other cute little girls. And I love that I get to be part of these fun groups. And on the days that I'm not teaching pre-school or play group, I get to participate in James' class. He has a really great teacher and nice new school- so I really can't complain. We just miss him when he's gone.

You are such a cute Mommy! I love the pictures!
I love Anna's pic I can't believe how fast they change! - and Aurora is doing the same thing as James - It takes her half an hour each day to get dressed!! I am feeling your pain also :) At least next week I will have the enforcer back and some more ammo to help get them going in the morning :)
They are growing up so quickly! Not fair. (I can't believe how long Anna's pigtails are!) You are doing a great job of capturing these cute times in photos. Sounds like Joseph and Mom are going to school close to full-time too. Lucky kids who get you for a teacher. We need to get a back-to-school photo of you too. Wasn't it just a few days ago that we took photos of you in your Challenger classroom?
I don't know why I haven't looked up your blog either! I can't believe you have 4 children! Time has flown. I am with you on the school thing being boring. I am so done dragging them out of bed, making lunch, and going to the bus stop! I love school breaks! The marinara is totally not a secret. I got it from another blog. Here is the site: http://myfoodstoragedeals.blogspot.com/search/label/Homemade%20Marinara-Yum
I added a few things, but this is the main recipe. Good Luck!
