idea

I Just noticed this post that has been sitting in my blog "draft" pile since mid-December. I'm going to go ahead and post it because I always like new ideas of ways to reward our kids. -No system seems to last too long. We are still, however, using a family 'puff ball jar' and earning family activities. -It's almost full enough for us to finally go see Tangled! I can't wait:)

We have been earning puff balls all month long. Each puff ball has a monetary value and this is how the kids have earned money to buy their sibling and cousin Christmas gift. Once they earned enough "money" for their family gift, they began earning money for their own gift their sibling will get them. For instance, if James wants Lizzy to get him a $12 Lego set, he has to earn 24 puffballs in his jar. James decided that if someone is being rude to someone else, they then owe that person one of their puff balls. This has been a fun way for the kids to earn extra Christmas cash, and for us to work on our kindness within the family.

I like that idea so much. We use those same "warm and fuzzies" during Christmas time, but I need to buckle down and really do something like this all the time. These earning and service systems are so hard for me to maintain.
