We have had a blast on so many different camping trips this summer! So Labor Day weekend, when we went with some good friends, we decided (?) to try a new place. We always go to the beautiful, cool, green mountains- why not try desert this time?The kids had a blast, there were no mosquitoes and we were able to camp without the tarp over our tent, resulting in beautiful star gazing. Other than Anna's hacking cough all night, it was a great quick trip!

We saw a real live, feisty badger out in this field!The petroglyphs were really fun to look at and hear the 3 & 5 year old's interpret.
We all agreed this was definitely a wooly mammoth...;)
The hike to the bridge was adventurous, as we found a fuzzy caterpillar and 1/2 a dozen lizards.

And while out exploring, searching for evidence of bad guys, Elizabeth shouts "hey, there's a bad guy right there in orange!" pointing to a man who had been driven by bus to the camp site an hour earlier to pick up trash with a dozen other 'roommates'... wearing a certain orange jump suit...
It was awesome finding various animal tracks, then creating our own! -These are some cleaver kids!
Arizona has gorgeous sunsets, but how can you compete with this? (and my camera doesn't do it justice.)
*ok, and James snuck his Superman underroos out of a box declared "too small as of 2 years ago..."
