Since I’ve been tagged 3 times for this same tag, I decided I’d better get on it! However, due to time, I’m just typing what comes to mind, so it won’t be as cleaver as other husband braggers! This is a random list of questions... here it goes...
What is your husband's name? Jim (aka jimmy, officially James)
How long have you been together? Although we attended the same high school, there were 5 years between us, so we didn’t meet ‘til later. We will celebrate our 9 year anniversary in about 9 weeks!
Where and how did you meet? At our Bishop’s house, during a singles get together. However, all the ladies in the ward were telling me of this hot new guy in the ward well before then. I think my mom put them up to it, to distract me as I had recently said good bye to a friend leaving on a mission…
How long did you date? Before we got engaged, almost 5 months, then we were engaged for another 5 ½ months.
Where did you honeymoon? We went on a cruiz and it was great! (huh, Mindy?!!!)
Who eats more? Jim does. But when I’m pregnant, there are far fewer leftovers for him to finish off.
Who said I love you first? It was Jimmy.
Who is taller? I’m 5’6 and he’s 6’5
Who has more speeding tickets? This is one we haven’t dealt with much. My only speeding ticket was on a college campus by a college cop. Does that even count?! But as far as I know, Jimmy doesn’t have a speeding ticket. However, when we’re driving long distances and I have a rare turn behind the wheel, I usually set cruise control a notch or two higher than he does…
Who is smarter? Jim. Thankfully our children have some hope for smart genes- or at least a little help with homework!
Who is more sensitive? Uh, that’d be me. Why do you even want to know? I’m sure there was a hidden meaning to the question that I’m taking offense to…
When there is a fight, who usually wins? Our only fights include water- and I think I’m actually ahead on that one. But as for disagreements-Jim for sure. He’s far more persistent. But who is right? Me:)
Who does the laundry? Lately this has been a shared chore. Jim is awesome at keeping it moving. Unfortunately I’m not so awesome at folding piles and getting them to their proper destinations too quickly. (However, I gotta somehow teach him the importance of the oxi-clean spray to Sissy’s shirts and James’ pants… )
Who does the dishes? Typically me. I HaTe when they build up- for some reason this overwhelms me. I like getting them out of the way after dinner, Jim prefers to relax. (And he somehow doesn’t feel bad leaving me to clean up… but playing with the kids is equally helpful, so it’s usually just fine.)
Who sleeps on the right? Me.
Who pays the bills? Jim is way too particular to let this leave his control. However, we are working on switching this role…
Who mows the lawn? When we return home, It will once again be Jim with sidekick James. I actually enjoy this chore, but find it difficult with little helpers around. For now we’re dealing with a dirt yard. (Kids LOVE to dig, I’ve just grown a broom appendage.)
Who cooks dinner? Me, unless he can’t wait after church or occasional lunches when he and the kids down a box of Kraft mac ‘n cheese. I, personally, can’t stand the stuff.
Who drives when you are together? Jim. Always.Who is more stubborn? Once again, another one for Jimmy (refer back to who wins the fights…)
Who kissed whom first? That’d be Jimmy. Does “tulips/two lips” ring a bell? Ok, so that was a denied attempt… but eventually his persistence did pay off…
Who asked who out first? Under much pressure from his Elders Quorum pres (who happened to be my boss and both of our neighbors) Jim made the phone call.
Who proposed? Jimmy. Up in the snowy mountains. At 6am. Yeah, I was lookin’ good… (and no, it wasn't a sleep over. He kidnapped me from my dorm.)
Who has more siblings? Jim has 4 sisters and 2 brothers, I have 1 sister and 3 brothers.
Who wears the pants in the family? He'd never fit in my skirts, anyway.

I now tag anyone admitting relation to this great guy (yup, through marriage counts).

Now why on earth would you fight about water?
Karin, I love reading your blog! Since I'm the oldest Hawkes cousin and wasn't "around" when you and Jim were dating, I haven't had too many opportunities to interact with you. That said, I've REALLY enjoyed getting to know you a little bit when we have spent a little time together.
Karin-- I love that you mentioned "tuliop/two lips" Hilarious!
Yeah... I can't spell.
Karan, I LOVE reading your blog. I am a regular! Your kids are adoreable and what a fun tribute to your husband. I seriously still remember seeing you guys at UVSC institute when we were both engaged and attending a marriage class there. It will be 9 years for us in April as well! Crazy how time flies! You guys are so cute! Let me know when you come around and we will BE SURE to get together!
I love hearing about your great husband! And your laundry comments made me laugh, I rarely finish folding in a timley manner, so a week later I'm still rifling through the "clean pile" to find a matching pair of socks.
